Introduction on How to use a Soldering Iron

Today I taught the collaborative group how to use a soldering iron. We bonded nails and other available materials to create a small metallic structure.

Though eventually they succeeded in joining the various metal parts together, the process of changing the physical properties of the materials (metals with various melting points) from solid to liquid was tricky. The reactions involved in the soldering process is generally used for joining wires in circuit boards, however this can be a transferable skill to bind materials in the art world.

This is a photograph of our outcome. Though this workshop had its dangers, I managed to show another way of making, providing the group with a hands-on experience of a new technique.
